1月23日 Fizzy Reds February NewsletterWelcome to 2007.
The committees of both the Fizzy Reds and Tablelands Reds would like to assure everybody that we will be endeavoring to give those younger residents of Goulburn who would like to participate in the game made in heaven (rugby union) every opportunity to do so.
Again this year we will be running to full compliment of Fizzy Reds starting with the under 6s and 8s which is designed around two-handed touch with no tackling allowed. Those children turning 9 this year will be able to play in the under 10s. This is where we start the contact with tackling becoming a major part of the game. Those children turning 11 will move up to the under 12s and will playing under full junior rules.
Again this year the Fizzy Reds will be including insurance socks, shorts and a free pass to all the Brumbies home game in the registration fee of $50 GST included.
We will be running a 14 week season and anticipate the starting date to be the 30th March commencing at 5.30pm at a venue as yet to be confirmed. The first training night will be held on the 16th of March again commencing at 5.30 at a venue as yet to be confirmed.
We are going to run a junior rugby program again this year, which will include under 13, 14, 15, 16, and opens if we get the numbers. These teams will compete in the Canberra competition which is played on a Saturday in both Goulburn and Canberra. These teams were both quiet successful last year and if we can get the same support and participation as last year then we will have another good year.
The first registration day will be held at Sportspower on Saturday, February 3rd beginning at 11 o'clock and going through to 1.30pm. The reason we are holding the registration day so early is so that all those children that register will get the free pass for the Brumbies game and as the first home game for the Brumbies is on the 10th we do not have any other option other than to hold it on the 3rd.
Important dates to remember:
03/02/2007: Registration day at Sportspower, stating at 11am and finishing at 1.30pm.
16/03/2007: First training night for Fizzy Reds.
30/03/2007: First competition game for Fizzy Reds beginning at 5.30pm at a venue yet to be confirmed.
Again, I would urge all parents that want to be involved to put their hands up and get involved as we cannot run this competition without the valued input of parents and friends.

President (Fizzy Reds) 1月9日 Yearbook and TRUE RED: Second Edition now availableThe 2006 Club Yearbook is now available from the club for free, but only a limited number are available so act quickly. The Yearbook features a report from each of the Intra Club Presidents (Dirty Reds, Fermented Reds, Fizzy Reds and Tablelands Reds) and from the first grade coach. It also includes full season stats, every match preview and report as it appeared in the Goulburn Post and the complete list of winners from the 2006 Presentation Awards.
Fifty copies were printed to be distributed for free which should be enough for all regular players and committee members and possibly even for the major sponsors. The Club may print some more, but even if you miss out, the file (in PDF format) is available in the Resource Library section of our web page so you can download it and read it or print it out for yourself. The Second Edition of the TRUE RED book is also just back from the printers and is now available. It's essentially the same as the first edition with some extra information, mostly provided by Gary Brims and Rick Buckley, included (particularly covering the 70s and 80s) and some grammatical and factual errors corrected. There are still some gaps in information we'd like to uncover and include in the book but hopefully that can all be included in the fuller version of the club's history envisaged to be completed over the next few years. Copies of the Video of TRUE RED are also available - featuring a 45 minute video montage of pictures and team photos from the last 50 years as well as a second disk containing the pictures used for the video. Again, the availability of pictures dictated what was included but most decades are represented very well. While the copying of DVDs is fairly common place these days, we would hope that players, former players and supporters will appreciate that the sales are a helpful fund-raiser for the club and decide to buy the DVD rather than just copy it. All money from sales goes to the club. Costs of the production of the book by Hypercet Printing have already been paid while the costs of the video production and materials have been donated so all money raised by sales goes straight to the club and no-one but the club is making money from their sales.
