12月28日 Casual Touch FootySurely it's too early to train!!! Nope, never too early, but you can at least ease into it gently.
Casual Touch Footy will be starting at Rugby Park at 6.30pm each Thursday night starting January 4th until full-on fair dinkum training begins on Tuesday January 30th. So take the chance to get some condition on board while it's just for fun before Pearso and Chook get the whips out in late January.
Trial matches and pre-season games have yet to be confirmed but stay tuned here for any updates. 12月16日 Big Week for KlemmyThe first week of December has been a big one for Matt Klem - and a busy one. On December 1st, Klemmy was re-elected president of the Goulburn Dirty Reds then on December 3rd, he and Trudi welcomed Toby Matthew into the world. On behalf of the whole club, we wish congratulations to Matt and Trudi for the arrival of Toby who we can only guess will be a third generation Dirty Red in something like 2025.
If you would like to wish them well or pass on your congratulations, feel free to Add a Comment. Dirty Reds Committee 2007Following on from the hugely succesful Club Reunion off the field, and grand final appearance on the field, there was renewed interest in committee positions at this year's AGM. The full list of those elected is:
On the paddock Ben Pearson will also be backing up in 2007 as first grade coach. Pearson got the firsts all the way to the main game last year despite having to coach both grades and only taking over the reigns after five rounds. This year he has the advantage of being able to plan and prepare for the season in advance. He also has the advantage of having a second grade coach to support him, a role that will be filled by Matt "so much for retirement" O'Rourke who will bring his own brand of torture to training sessions. Ben will again have Gary Stephens as his manager while Liz McLoughlin will manage the second grade side - only the second woman to act as a team manager for the club with Jane Collings filling that role in the early 90s. Reilly Martin Fizzy Reds season to be extendedThe length of the Fizzy Reds' Junior Rugby season will be extended by a further 4 weeks in 2007, it was decided at the Fizzy Reds' monthly meeting on Friday 10th November. The season will now commence three weeks before the Easter holidays and will include two weeks of training and one actual game before the school holidays. The remainder of the four weeks will be added to the end of the season, allowing the Fizzy's to take advantage of any late gala days that may be attended.
It was also decided to try and align the Fizzy's Calendar with the senior club with a calendar sent to all parents identifying all Dirty Reds home games to encourage more families to go and watch the club home games. Registration day for the 2007 season will be held at Sportspower on a Saturday morning yet to be decided. Separate stations will be set up for each age group and the committee wished to thank Rohan who has offered us free advertising for the day. In other club news, the committee decided that a minimum of three gala days should be attended this year. These should ideally be held at the beginning, middle and end of the season. 2007 is Goulburn's turn to host Wagga Wagga and Southern Inland sides and it is envisaged that this would coinicide with the middle season gala day, pending the availability of grounds. ACT Junior Rugby will be contacted to see if the Fizzy's need to pay a nominal affiliation fee to allow us to send players to their Under 12 trials next year. Reviewing last year's presentation day, including comments received from parents and related parties, it was decided not to alter the format dramatically but that more activities may be offered in 2007. The committee also advised that, for the 2007 season, it was hoped the publicity officer would provide information including match reports to not only the Goulburn Post but also to 2GN and this website to boost the code's exposure. The planned stock take will still be taking place at Poidevin Oval on Saturday 18th November beginning at 10am for a stock take of all rugby equipment. If anyone has any Fizzy Reds equipment that should have been returned, please ensure it is returned to the Oval on or before the stocktake day so it can be included. While speaking on Poidevin Oval, Fred Hucker is to be approached to explore the possibilities of having the ground line marked by Correctional Centre inmates. The meeting finished at 8.45pm and the next meeting is scheduled for Friday 1st December at 6.30pm (with agenda items to be sent to Jack Cunningham - 0408 418525. Fizzy Reds Committee 2007The Fizzy Red Goulburn Junior Rugby Club held its AGM on Friday 20th October with a large number of people present. One of the primary purposes of the meeting was to elect a new committee for the coming season and that committee (with some spots yet to be filled) is as follows:
The positions marked TBA are still to be filled and president Jack Cunningham indicated that he would welcome any expressions of interest for these roles. In General Business, Brumbies development officers indicated that the Fizzy Reds would again receive an Under 10 Curtain Raiser to a Brumbies game in 2007. In a similar vain, Craig Leseberg will seek through the Brumbies representative paths for Goulburn juniors. From other points raised, John Bell will investigate possible dates for gala days and will discuss with Ross Copland which games will be representative games and which will be open to Fizzy Red players. Matt Klem, as Canteen Co-ordinator, indicated that at least one month's notice would be needed in advance of Gala Days. He will also be conducting an official stocktake of all Fizzy Red resources, including jumpers, cones and tackle equipment on Saturday 18th November at 10.30am at Poidevin Oval. The Fizzy Reds will meet on the first Friday of each month for their monthly meetings, with the exception of of November when they will meet on the 10th November. |
